Rhythm Kids®
Rhythm Kids® follows through on the Music Together® vision by completing the pathway of early childhood music development from birth through age eight. Designed for children ages 4½–8 and the grownups who love them®, Rhythm Kids® bridges the gap between our Mixed-Age Music Together® classes and formal music instruction, building the musical skills, confidence, and readiness children need should they choose to study an instrument in the future
Through drumming, singing, movement, musical games, and creative activities, children develop rhythm skills, coordination, creativity, and musicianship while exploring music from around the world.
Each semester includes:
- Weekly 45-minute classes
- The Rhythm Kids® song collection and digital music
- Access to online play-along videos for home
- Instrument instruction on the djembe drum
- Singing, movement, rhythm games, and creative musical activities
- Opportunities to improvise, compose, conduct, and perform
Each Rhythm Kids® song collection is named after an animal. Children learn authentic drumming patterns inspired by the part of the world where that animal lives while discovering fascinating facts about the animal and its habitat, connecting music with geography, culture, and the natural world.
Unlike our Mixed Ages classes, Rhythm Kids® is an instrument instruction class. Children learn proper djembe technique and ensemble skills while building the confidence and musical foundation that prepares them for future music study.
A djembe drum is required for class and home practice.
